Tips to Improve Your MDCAT Rank

Every 1 mark in MDCAT = ~0.33% aggregate improvement. With FSc 95%, improving MDCAT from 130 to 150 moves your aggregate from ~85.8% to ~87.5% — which could be the difference between getting Dow Medical or not.
Biology is your fastest path to marks. At 45% of MDCAT (81 marks), every Biology chapter you master is worth more than any other subject combined.
Solve MDCAT past papers 2019–2024. PMC repeats question patterns. Students who solve 5+ past papers average 15–20 marks higher than those who don't.
Don't ignore FSc marks. At 30% weightage, FSc is the second biggest merit factor. A student with FSc 95% vs FSc 85% has a built-in 3% merit advantage — equivalent to ~9 extra MDCAT marks.

What MDCAT score do I need for KEMU Lahore?

Does Hafiz-e-Quran bonus apply to MDCAT merit?

Yes. A Hafiz-e-Quran (memorizer of the Holy Quran) receives a 2.5% bonus added to their aggregate in the PMC merit formula. This is verified by the medical college at the time of admission.

How many total MBBS seats are in Pakistan 2026?

Pakistan has approximately 20,000–22,000 MBBS seats total across all public and private medical colleges. Public sector seats (~11,000) are merit-based. Private college seats require qualification + ability to pay tuition fees (Rs. 15–30 lakh/year).

What if I don't get a government medical college?

Students who don't make public medical college merit can consider: 1) Private medical colleges (PMDC-recognized), 2) Retaking MDCAT next year, 3) Allied health sciences programs (Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Medical Lab Technology), or 4) Biomedical sciences programs at universities.
